WHAT WE BELIEVE - Watertown Evangelical Free Church -
We are an "evangelical" church in that we are committed to sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ and believe in the full authority of the Bible as God's inspired Word.
We are a "free" church in that we are self-governing and independent. At the same time, we are a part of a movement of churches committed to working together to reach our world for Christ.
OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of Watertown Evangelical Free Church is to glorify God by producing and developing disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, teaching, fellowship and evangelism. The reason we exist as a church is to glorify God - It's all about Him, "so that in everything he might have the supremacy." (Colossians 1:18)
But how do we glorify God? Jesus said, "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit." (John 15:8) It's by fruit-bearing or being spiritually productive that we glorify God as a church. Jesus' last command to His followers before he ascended to heaven was to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)
A spiritually- fruitful church is a disciple-making church. We seek to make disciples by introducing people to Jesus and helping them grow into fully devoted followers of His. That's what WEFC is all about.
In order to fulfill our purpose we follow four basic priorities, inspired by the example of the early church
(Acts 2:42-47):
We are committed to:
- CELEBRATION - Joyfully worshiping our great and
gracious God
- CONTENT - Bible-centered preaching and teaching
- CARING - Loving and serving one another and our community
- COMMUNICATING - Sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus
